On Friday June 19th, we made a trip to a beach called Puerto Velero. All of the beaches in Barranquilla are supposedly not nice. I think theyŕe full of trash and not super safe. The closest nice beach was about 45 minutes away, so we decided to take a trip there with everyone. Guilherme arrived the day before, so he went to the beach with us as well. It was somewhat foggy, but it was still pretty. The water was warm and in some spots there was like sea grass on the floor, which felt really weird. It was really shallow for a really long time (like a little higher than the waist). But once you walked out really far, thereś a giant drop all of a sudden and you cant touch the ground while keeping your head abpve water. It was really funny cause we were walking out to where some of the other students were cause it looked like they were in deeper water. But up until about 5 feet away from them, it was still really shallow so we thought they were lying to us and were actually just on there knees....and then we got to the drop off! There were lots of kitesurfers and windsurfers, which reminded me of Hawaii. That morning I woke up feeling terrible and nauseous and really did not feel like going anywhere, but I couldnt pass up the opportunity to go to the beach with everyone! The sun was out but it was really really windy which actually made it pretty cold. We hung out at an outdoor restaurant that let us use their tables. When it came time for lunch, we realized how expensive the prices were (which it was not a nice looking restaurant at all). Since we were using their tables, we were kind of obligated to get food from them. ..and besides, the restaurant next door was just as expensive. So, I decided to share my meal with someone since we had to pay for ourselves that day. There happened to be a little area with a bathroom right next to wear we were on the beach, which was super nice. Even more surprising was the fact that there was toilet paper AND a mirror AND a light AND a sink WITH soap. Thatś hard to come by...especially in a public area like we were in. That night I had to pack for our trip to Bogotá, Medellín, and Santa Marta, which took a while sink I had to try to fit that all in my backpack! (Thank goodness my best friend let me borrow her backpack cause hers is WAYYY bigger than mine). I had to wake up at 4:30 to be able to get ready and get to the airport by 6:00am. Unfortunately, I started feeling even worse that night and the neighbors decided to blast their music as loud as humanly possible for the entire night!

Guille´s here! (:
