Today, we stayed in Cartagena until we had breakfast, and then we left for Barranquilla. I was slightly tired and wanted to be able to stay awake better since I still needed to read as much as possible of Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel García Márquez (which so far, I'm thinking I like it a lot more than 100 Years of Solitude, mainly due to the fact that so far there haven't been any inscestuous relationships and there has been talk of marine archaeolgy related things). So I went to a Colombian chain coffee shop, Juan Valdez. I ended up getting a frozen coffee with dulce de leche added. It was kind of like a frappucino, but the coffee was way stronger than I had expected, but it was still really good! (Which is saying a lot, cause I'm still in the transition of forcing myself to like coffee).

(It was definitely actually filled to the top, I just could resist taking a couple of sips before I had the idea of taking a picture of it!)
Today really wasn't too eventful. We were on the road to Barranquilla for a while. However, I did get to meet my host family today! Their house is absolutely beautiful! I even have my own room. It's by far nicer than the house that I will be moving into in August, haha. They are really nice. For dinner, I had chicken and arepas de queso (kind of a corncake with some cheese that isn't super noticeable). To drink, I had lulo with milk, which was delicious! ..so now, I have had lulo apart from maracuyá, and it wasn't as sour as I was expecting it to be (as I noted in my post yesterday). Maybe that was due in part to the milk, but also I'm sure it had to have been due to the absence of the maracuyá. The greatest thing happened today: our first day of class, which was supposed to be tomorrow, got canceled. I am so happy cause I haven't had time to finish Love in the Time of Cholera and now I have all of tomorrow and the weekend. Also, the beach yesterday wore me out and I didn't get as much sleep as I would have liked due to staying up later to post on my blog, to read, and the fact that my room was right next to the lobby and some guys thought it would be a good idea to yell and be loud in the lobby at 4am! Needless to say, I'm looking forward to a day of adequate sleep and relaxation!
Here is a photo that Lauren and me had taken today on the balcony of our hotel in Cartagena just before leaving. The view was so pretty!
